Penggunaan Mini Drama untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa EFL di Sekolah Menengah Pertama

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara (speaking) siswa sekolah menengah dalam konteks pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL) melalui penggunaan metode mini drama. Mini drama digunakan sebagai teknik pembelajaran untuk membantu siswa meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara, seperti pelafalan (pronunciation), kelancaran (fluency), kosakata (vocabulary), dan tata bahasa (grammar). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental yang melibatkan satu kelompok dengan tahap pre-test dan post-test. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes lisan dan dokumentasi yang dilaksanakan melalui kegiatan mini drama pendek. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 27 siswa kelas VIII-1 SMP Negeri 3 Batang Angkola, Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan speaking siswa setelah penerapan metode mini drama. Rata-rata nilai pre-test sebesar 70,19 meningkat menjadi 80,56 pada post-test. Hasil analisis statistik menggunakan uji paired t-test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai p < 0,05, yang mengindikasikan bahwa metode mini drama efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan mini drama dalam pembelajaran bahasa asing dapat meningkatkan partisipasi serta kepercayaan diri siswa dalam komunikasi lisan.
